Chemical Peels

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles - Corrects sun damage - Improves Acne - Diminish appearance of scars - Address pigmentation issues - Enhance skin tone & texture - Maximise the effectiveness of skincare products

Which AHA's and BHA's do you use?

- Glycolic acid, which is an AHA. A very effective peel with a small molecular base meaning it can work deep down in the layers of the skin. It boosts celluar renewal helping to plump out fine lines and wrinkles, improves hydration, lightens pigmentation and sun damage and evens out skin tone. - Mandelic acid, which is an AHA. Is a great choice for those new to chemical peels or are more prone to sensitivity as the large molicule prevents it from penetrating too deep into the skin layers, causing irritation. It's an anti bacterial which helps fight breakouts, it can lighten pigmentation, it boosts hydration, boosts cellular renewal helping to plump out fine lines and wrinkles over time and evens out skin tone. - Salicylic acid which is a BHA. Salicylic acid is oil soluable which means it's great for those with oily skin as it can penetrate through the oil to unclog pores. It also helps to reduce sebum (oil) production, it's anti bacterial, balances keratinisation, increases cellular turnover and is an anti inflammatory.

Do I need to know which one I want?

No, you'll complete a comprehensive consultation form when you arrive, answering questions about lifestyle, current products you use and what you want to acheive from the treatment to improve skin issues. From all this information, I will create a custom bespoke facial using the peels to target problem areas.

How often should I get a chemical peel done?

You can get them done a minimum of every 4 weeks. I recommend clients get them every 4-6 weeks to see an improvement in skin conditions. Please note, it you're trying to resolve a skin problem such as skin pigmentation, one peel will usually not suffice. It's worth commiting to a course of 6 spaced every 4-6 weeks with maintenance peels after this. If you're happy with your skin and have no obvious problems but would like one as a pick me up for a glow before an event, one would do the job perfectly!

Is there anything I shouldn't do after having a chemical peel?

A full aftercare leaflet will be given after your treatment. However, the number one thing is to avoid sun exposure for about 2 weeks after having a peel. This is because you've removed the outer layer of protection and will be a lot more susceptible to burning, pigmentation and UV damage. Always use a high SPF of 30 or above on the face to prevent damage.
